F1 » F1 China 2013: I'd probably do same again, says Vettel

Sebastian Vettel: I think I'm the kind of guy that respects team decisions but on the other hand Mark is not the one that deserved it [the victory] at the time.

So much loser talk here. Obviously none of you have any desire to win or be the best. Vettel has nothing to apologise for especially as Webber has gone against team orders on several occasions.

I'm glad to hear Vettel say this. It shows he has the ruthlessness that it takes to be a true F1 great.

@TheArtist - the argument for team orders is that the team didn't want to stress the engines or gearboxes given the FIA imposed limitations. Plus they probably didn't want to risk another incident like in Turkey. With team orders asking drivers to hold position is different than asking them to swap positions.

So what Vettel is saying is that if they are ordered to turn their engines down he'll use that to his advantage and ignore it if he's behind Webber?

Hmmmm so I guess then BOTH drivers will be ignoring team orders. Because I doubt Webber will ever trust that Vettel will tow the line from now.

Not that he ever has either. At least they know where they stand now. RACE ON!

@seanus, this is what I posted over 10 hours ago! Now that everyone knows where they stand, let them race to the death! WDC at stake or no WDC at stake! No quarter given, none expected. At least now, there will be no more pronouncements of "equality for drivers" by Marko and the Red Bull team while all the time favouring Vettel the past few years! No team orders, no favouritism, every man for himself on the track. Let the drivers and wngineers race one another as if they are from different teams and lets see who has the balls to decide when there will be an accident or not. No quarter given, none expected. Kill or be killed. Scorched earth policy! No more sportsmanship! Dog eat dog!

End of!

"I got a call on the radio which I heard but I didn't understand at the time."

What's not to understand about "maintain positions"?? (even if it probably wasn't said exactly like that).

i see it as 1 driver Webber following team orders, the other Vettle not. So what is it red bull, follow or not? Weber followed and got burned. Now red bull needs to deal with people who disobey team orders. Drivers receive millions of dollars from the team, so it is a team decision.

So, at least we now know who the team principle is - SV decides team orders don't work for him, and Horner goes along. It will be interesting to see if the team self destructs or if Vettel just sacks Webber.
