Its only Friday Practice and is early to get conclusions but it looks that Massa is on good form at the moment. But he still is getting smashed by Alonso in race pace. In Australia as soon as Alonso had clear air he was clearly the fastest of the duo and in Malaysia if he didn't crashed...everyone knows that possibly he would win, he knows how to drive a car on the damp tracks. Anyway happy to see Massa competitve again, considering that no driver on the grid can equal or beat Alonso on the same car in the matter of race pace.

Firestorm, you obviously didn't watch FP3 today when both drivers where doing long runs on both compounds. Massa had the edge over the rest of the field (and that included Alonso) by almost half a sec for most of the session.
His engineer was even on the team radio saying : "Your pace is not good, it is incredible!"

I do agree that it is only FP so it doesn't count. FA will analyze FM's data with his engineer and see where he's losing time and coming Qually/Race he'll be there or thereabouts. That's not taking anything away from him as Massa would have done the same in the situation.

But after having lost faith in the Brazilian myself, he's been proving everyone wrong over the past few races. If he wins this one, he'll make me a believer!

Only issue is, if FA is second, Ferrari will make Massa yield even though he's ahead in the championship... Sad times.

OK, let's so YOU take a suspension spring to the face and remain in championship contention.

Evidently it's just taken Massa 3 years to properly recover and get his mojo back. And now that it is...well, here's hoping he doesn't lose out on WDC by a single point like 2008.

firestorm. are you forgetting that flip was told to let ferdi past, in australia. yeah he dropped back, but why not? he wasnt going to be allowed to challenge ferdi.

ed. some of us never lost faith in flip, even if he is in a subservient role to alonso. glad to see that he is proving all the doubters wrong. remember last year, nearly everyone was calling for his head.

Great to see Massa back on form. I think the effects of his head injury were under-estimated, so his recovery + work with a sports psychologist and a more readable car has got his ducks lined up. However, while unpopular, FA is formidable and favoured so let's see what happens on Sunday...
