A busy post-race evening for the race stewards got underway with grid penalties for Bahrain being handed to Red Bull's Mark Webber and Sauber's Esteban Gutiérrez.

As his wheel went running accross the track and Seb came around the corner narrowly missing the wheel, Mark was heard to say "Sh-t .. Just missed". :)

Wasn't such a good day in the office for Mark, despite what I thought was an excellent initial strategy and drive following his pit lane start.

Youve gotta have a laugh with F1. All the seriousness, and supposed high tech professionalism techo **** etc. Webber AND his Teams weekend can be summed up as an amateurish F Up. Can anyone explain what sort of salary a pit crew member would receive.

sunny. (i have just amended this post) i may stand to be corrected. having a close look at the rbr hub, before and after the event, shows the centre part (which i took to be part of the nut) still on the car. so this part appears to be a locator, but still has the fingers that presumably are compressed by the wheel gun. so you are probably right about all cars using wheel captivated nuts. still cannot work out how the nut is actually supposed to be secured though. maybe the fingers are supposed to also act a pin within the drive shaft, that is supposed to lock the nut??

jd. i was watching on bbc, and they clearly stated that webber was stuck in 3rd gear. but it is possible that car was deliberately held in 3rd gear.

JEV would have to be ridiculously unaware of what is going on to have not known that Webber was there. He is lucky that he is not the one with a penalty

mike. vergne was racing for position, something that he is fully entitled to do, and webber was behind, not even the faintest of an overlap. webber miscalculated a lunge and even admitted it!

Richard, I watched on BBC too. What was said was, on cutting to in car of him going slow, something along the lines "Looks like he's stuck in gear", immediately followed by Mark's radio message of something broken at the rear and being told to drive in slowly (remember these radio messages are delayed, the footage was live). The commentator was guessing, not stating fact.

" webber miscalculated a lunge and even admitted it! "

I guess that's better than admitting "I mistook Vergne for Vettel and deliberately rammed him."

A prediction - Webber won't be driving for RB by the end of the season.

Richard, this is what we rely on you and Sunny for, to help us non engineering fans understand the finer workings of F1. There are enough other posters to provide the comedy. Not saying you shouldn't have opinions but we rely on you for, can we say facts. Missing Taipan, is he still mensa waiting.

you lot crack me up ok so mark probly wont be there next year but do you honestly think that who ever goes to redbull next year would be allowed to challenge helmuts golden boy it would be ten times worse at redbull if kimmi or any other high profile driver went there. If anything the top flight drivers would avoid going to redbull

I was never a big fan of Webber... since his early days at Jaguar to be honest! I remember watching an interview with him where he continuously goes out of his way to criticize his team mate (which sucked anyway) and I don't think that's on regardless of who you are.

Then again, he did fall for the BS of "we have no number 1/2 drivers" from a team that admittedly uses Multi 21, where 2 means Webber and 1 means Seb! If that's not driver 1 and 2 right there, I don't know what it is...

No Saints in F1. Seb disrespects team orders, Webber is whinger and also disrespected team orders in the past, Alonso took part in that ridiculous attempt to win the Championship with Piquet Jr, Hamilton fired his own father, etc...

The good guys once again finish last... poor Massa! lol
