richard- If nico did it last year why can he not do it this year, surely he would have been ahead of hamilton if he was going to have a chance of victory today before he unfortunately retired, at the stage he retired this year he already had a 10s lead last year, the mercedes was much more competitive this time last year in china, than it was today.

You guys are crazy Richard etc, when are you going to give a little credit to the fact that Lewis has far less races under his belt than either Alonso, Button, Kimi, Rosberg and actually less than Vettel but and here is the but - not one of them had his stats in his first two seasons and probably still would not if Mac had not produced a dog in 2009 and not much better in 2010..Or have suffered the the loss of not only so many races but a championship in a rookie year thanks to crap strategy and pit stops! Despite all this he bounces back and performs - with around seven less years in the sport than say Alonso. He is young and may well go on to far greater things. The difference is he is doing it without huge car advantages. Unlike Vettel. He is a racer and to suggest he is not as good as Nico - oh boy...

westy. simple. stats can be manipulated to read whatever you want to try and prove. and yes, it is a FACT that nico had one win in the merc, and lulu hasnt

laurez. nico was on a different strategy to lulu, so NOBODY could know, or even guess as to what the finishing position might have been.

dr g. what has the number of races to do with it? lulu even won the wdc before kimi etc. and as for him having less races than seb????????????????

did you mean less race wins, less wdcs ?????

@Dr.Graham..."He is young and may well go on to far greater things. The difference is he is doing it without huge car advantages. Unlike Vettel. He is a racer and to suggest he is not as good as Nico - oh boy..." What are you talking about? Seriously..........do you know anything about Hammi's background? He has been groomed bro...fricking GROOOOOMED! He has huge car advantages over so many... he has proved SO FAR ANYWAYS that the Merc is good if not real good! So..... he is without question above average as a driver which says alot. The one thing I cant stand Is the ball-lickin fans of his. Be good!

Oh he may of been groomed but how many groomed or not groomed drivers are better than hammi mmmm not many 1 alonso and by the way being groomed by whatever does that make him fast err no it's natural talent fastest in f1 shame the cars power ain't up to scratch coZ Hamilton is putting that merc where it shouldn't be .. Nice job hammi you keep it up....

Very funny how some people say they don't like stats because they "can be manipulated to read whatever you want to try and prove", yet they use the same stats to compare Nico (1 win with Merc) to Lewis (0 win).

Is it my understanding of the term "statistics" that is erroneous or what? What am I missing?

oh ben. if you dont know the difference between stats and one actual FACT. there is no hope for you!

stats would show that in the first three races with merc, lulu beat the points of say, schumi , in his first three races with merc. but that proves nothing. if you refer to the original post, a poster was using stats to try and make a point that lulu was achieving more than nico did last year. yes , possibly, but in his first three races last year, nico had a WIN, but lulu has not matched that, therefore the original post did not show that lulu had a better result than nico. got it yet?
