"I don't know if they've got the mental aptitude to race hard, wheel-to-wheel," says British F1 legend.

@Darth Vader
People in general should be able to pursue whatever they want, regardless of race, gender, or social status.

I also don't mind gorgeous women either!

Moss raced when the tyres were skinny and the racers were fat. Today's drivers are much more committed to their profession, train like elite athletes, use simulators and are very data savvy.

Motorsports in general is a money game and despite the amount of talent, you will always need a large fund to back up your efforts. This is probably harder for a female to secure than a male.

Women have been flying fighters in Russia and the former Soviet Union for years due to their ability to withstand tremendous G loads. I see no problem with women handling the mental stress. We have many high ranking women in the world of F1 that probably have to endure 10x the stress the drivers do. The problem lies in finding a female with the skill set to compete at such a level. Certainly don't want a Danica Patrick type smearing the Formula 1 legacy. We are in an era where drivers are getting rides based on the dollars they can bring to the sport and not their level of skill.

Sir Stirls was just expressing his opinion, he's entitled to that. I'm all for women F1 drivers but there aren't exactly many doing anywhere near good enough in junior categories. Danica Patrick has been backed through her career because she is a woman, not an amazing driver, she's good commercially in the US. Susie Woolf did nothing in DTM and is now Williams reserve oh and married to a major shareholder! There is a reason why women aren't making it big, I don't know what it is, but there is a reason.
