F1 » Bahrain Grand Prix 2013: Alonso rues DRS problem

Fernando Alonso: We definitely didn't have much luck today and that's a real shame, at the end of what had been such a positive weekend.

dave. it is IMPOSSIBLE for any driver to operate the drs before the drs line!

pete. first of all, it would work ok in the pits, but when it was deployed in the race, air blowing under the flap, pushed the flap up and past the stops on the endplate. you could not replicate this when the car is stationary.

The FIA will never punish Alonso..........EVER. He is the Golden Boy of F1.

When he drove past the pits with a broken front wing a couple of races ago, Ferrari could have cause a horrific accident, where they even spoken too NO.

Ferrari weren't penalised in Malaysia because he didn't even make it to the end of the straight after the pit entry!

And from what I've heard, the driver cannot activate the DRS outside the DRS zones. Don't find excuses to badmouth him. He made it through from the back of the grid to 8th without DRS, and was able to hold off the cars he passed in the DRS zones.

Although I believe that the 'automatic' system from the FAI failed again.. surely any driver who operates their DRS (either intentionally or unintentionally) outside of the designated areas, or not within the 1 second rules should be penalised?

How can the finishing points be allowed?????

c9. you still havent got it, have you?

1 there is no evidence to show that alonso opened drs outside of the designated zone.
2 it is physically impossible as there is an fia controlled activation block!

Richard:

You clearly don't have...

As mentioned the FIA control was not totally in place, plus the flap was wide open for all to see on the lap before being brought into the pits.... it clearly failed mechanically.

Anyone that can shed some light as to why no penalty has been issued????

c9f. i seem to have more of a clue than you do!

it was ONLY the dashboard warning lights that were not operating, such as drs, yellow, blue, flags etc .

the drs activation was working perfectly.

funny that there is absolutely nothing on any site about this, but only your accusation. please provide us with a link to what you perceived. otherwise, you should drop it, we now know that you do not like alonso. (i am not a fan of his, but accusing him of cheating without any proof and when it is impossible, is a new low!)

c9off - The rules also state that you need to have tires mounted to the rims so why are you not asking for Massa to be penalized for the tire coming off of the rim? They don't penalize for mechanical failures.
