F1 » Fernley: Half the grid would win with Red Bull

Paul di Resta would be a front-runner in the right car, but so would 50 per cent of the grid, admits Force India's Bob Fernley.

I do agree that the likes of PDR and other of a similar level in the mid teams could make a success of driving for Redbull or even Ferrari.

I do think they lack that extra 10% that Alonso especially and Hamilton and Vettel have to bring the results each weekend and win titles.
Take Webber and Button for example whilst the Button is a different story based in statistics Webber albeit still a class driver is not making the cut compared to Vettel no matter how much Vettel finger annoys me he is still one of the three most respect and feared drivers.

Which I think the likes of PDR and other don't seem to have in their blood to achieve.

If Red Bull were that good, why don't they have two fast cars? Or is Webber really that bad? Maybe Vettels speed is underestimated, just like Stoner was when he was riding Ducati..

Marcus, I reckon you started trolling F1 when Stoner quit MotoGP? Just to keep you updated, Webber has "misfortunes" almost every race weekend and Stoner was only successfull on the Ducati once and that's in 2007. And just to let you know, this is not MotoGP that 2nd is fine. Here, winner takes all the glory and only the championship counts.

Of course he's right.

Just look at Button. Driving a crap car for years with little to no results. Gets a front running car and wins the title on his first attempt and then goes on to finish in the top 5 in the WDC ever since, with a higher average finishing position in the WDC than Hamilton.

We can't take anything away from Vettel, who despite the doubters, had shown that he can in fact race and race well even when not leading from the front.

But lets not forget that in lower formula, Paul beat him to the the championship. It's not unreasonable to assume he would give Vettel a run for his money again if given the same machinery.

For a team who's boss is broke financially, Force India had done pretty well this year. Compared to Maldonado' s team who's achieved podiums last year.

When are you going to stop posting all this JB is better than LH stuff on a daily basis its getting very tiresome now.

Maybe the Willaims, BAR and Renault teams werent actually that bad maybe he just cuold not get the most out of them?
Would of been interesting to see Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso in some of those cars to see how they performed..
..Hang on didnt Renault get rid of Button for Alonso and then alonso went on to win 2 x WDC in that car!
