a lot of these figures just do not hold water, as the contracts vary lot. for instance, vettel is rewarded for his results so his true pay is well over 20m. and then there is no recognition given to those who are actually paying for their drive only the amounts kept for their "living expenses" are shown. etc etc. and as the article points out, a number of drivers who are on fixed contracts, show reduction on previous years, which presumably cannot, or has not happened.

firestorm. first of all, a lot of these figures are speculation , and bear no relationship to what a driver actually earns.
secondly, flip is on a year to year contract and in light of current economic climate, it is understandable that he would be on a lower "salary". but as for ferdi, he is on a long term contract, and there would be NO reduction, thus proving that figures are haywire!

button is on third year of a three year fixed contract, signed when he was wdc, so it is unsurprising that he is still showing at a good figure. not sure what he will get next year, though.

whilst these figures are obscene, nobody knows what any driver earns, other than their respective taxmen. so little point in getting worked up over them.

@ richard, jb is in his fourth season with mclaren and the second year of a deal he signed during 2011 while hamilton was 'crashing all the time' (hamiltons words), to become mclarens highest paid employee.

ferdi and andy. could well be right. time passes so quick....but there seems to be some moaning about buttons "salary" when, compared to lulu, he was actually performing better, and as both were wdcs, they warranted equal amounts. but when any contract is signed, there is no way that there could be any reduction from year to year.
