Felipe Massa and Esteban GutiƩrrez have both been handed three-place grid penalties as a result of being deemed to have blocked a rival during qualifying.

Nice to see Massa is still firmly attached to reality.

Felipe, you were on a slowing down lap. Why take the inside of the corner (the racing line) and force Mark to go round the outside on his hot lap? That meant Mark had to drive a longer distance to get around the corner and also had to keep a watch on where you are, not to mention the lack of grip he got from the section of the track not used as much. In short, it wrecked his lap, an experienced driver like you should know better.

I think this rule should only apply if action affects the final grid position. Massa's actions were not intentional and it had no bearing on Mark's final grid spot. If it were egregious or intentional it would be another matter.

Some of the parts of that track are very hard to pass on, and asking drivers to waste their tires on in/out laps is a little heartless.
