Japanese media reports suggest that Honda could be poised to confirm a return to F1 as an engine supplier in the near future - and possibly before the end of the week...

Even if they start in 2015 surely they need to build and start testing the engine in 2014 otherwise they will be a at least a year behind Renault, Ferrari and Mercedes as I assume they have already started work on the new engines.

@Owen. I think honda have played a blinder here. They can assess all the other engines in 2014, gather data on Mercedes and build a (hopefully) superior unit while all others are in the engine freeze state!!

Because most of the engine makers have been developing thiers for over a year already, Honda would need most of this year and all of next year to be competitve in 2015.

Very good news if it's true, the obvious team of choice will be Mclaren which should help take the pressure off Whitmarsh for a while, mind you they may have a second think seeing the mess Mclaren are in at the moment and Lotus have a history with Honda and they are a team on the up while Mclaren are going in the opposite direction.
