lost all respect for Red Bull Racing. The whining and complaining has gotten to the point of being down right embarrassing. Now they've influenced a change in tires not even half way through the season just because they are not dominant!

Lest we forget that the Spanish GP in 2011 was won by Seb Vettel on a 4 stopper.... the same number he and both Ferrari's did this past Sunday....

Oh the irony.... truly if Ferrari were the one that influenced the compound change all hell would have broke loose with FIA (Ferrari International Assistance) cries.....

This Horse Whisperer column is often interesting as it says things the usual PR guys wouldn't dream of, but it is usually full of crap. This time they've got it spot on.

Pirelli's decision to change the tyres is a knee jerk rection to some whining after a race that has always been hard on the tyres.

Surely the answer is to wait a while longer before making any decisons, to see if teams get used to them, or the different circuits even things out.

Don't let the team PR *****s fool you. Pirelli is changing the tires to address the de-lamination and outright tread face failures experienced in Spain. In addition to failures we saw in practice and the race, Pirelli will have looked at every tire coming off the cars. From this it appears they determined a change was necessary to address potential safety risks. Pirelli is not going to admit this is the case, so are pointing to the number of stops to deflect attention away from their real issues.

what Ferrari are forgetting is that the previous 4 stop podium winners in previous years, made 4 stops after pushing HARD, not after stroking a pace for fear of making 5 stops due to pants rubber......

Consider this: if RBR or the Mercs chew their tires as bad, why don't they just stop 5 times? You guys know that it is because the tire supply is limited. With the current allocation 4 is the maximum and even then one stint is on scrubbed rubber. The choice for the F1 was a compromise between keeping the current tire compounds and modifying the rules to allow another one-two sets per weekend. Considering Pirelli supplies the tires at their cost they chose to make them harder in stead of hauling more of them. Surely it's a sensible choice, isn't it?

completely agree with you mate. probably going to come in for some abuse from Richard now and other RBR/Vettel lovers, but everyone had the chance to develop the car around the tyres.
Ferrari and Lotus did the best job of that, so why should they now be punished? RBR, Merc and others ballsed it up...

what gets me they keep moaning about stuff that hurts the sport and they do this to the tyres halfway thru so wrong !
its now not racing !! due to sore losers really.
my respect to them now has gone and the damage to the sport will be seen by millions if redbull and mercedes all of a sudden start to walk away after the changes
if had my sponser on there cars i would not be happy as it will be false wins and a false look for a company better postions what a joke by change of tyres
win by being fare not by having to change the equiptment to solve your design faults like others have done a good job of. talk about disrespect to those teams.
f1 is hurt more than ever when this takes affect well done redbull n mercedes n who ever else got this to happen as your not cappable of fixing the real fault that others worked hard on !

This is a completely unbiased post......

I agree with f1iceman above for one simple reason. The timing of it is wrong and it appears to the world like a knee-jerk reaction by Pirelli. If Lewis and Nico suddenly run away with a 1-2 at the next race and the Ferraris and Kimi come 9th, 10th and 11th, it will not look very good for the sport....NO MATTER WHAT the real reason for that result might be!

That is the point....
