F1 » Hamilton: Vettel has got it easy

Lewis Hamilton has responded to Sebastian Vettel's jibe about 'two buses' leading in Monaco by claiming that the German doesn't know when he's got it good.

you have to be smoking grass to believe Vettel hasnt had the best car for the last few years. Im talking about the kind of grass that cows spend a lot of time on too.

Vettel has RBR behind him completely and his car has been the fastest almost exclusively, his car has suffered less breakdowns than his teammate and his team dumps more money than anyone else (i believe.)

can't get much better than that.

@prof-x If he had the best car by far each year, how many times did Webber finish second in the championship? Oh yeah, none. I believe you're the one smoking that grass you were on about. RBR is where it is today thanks to Vettel, and Newey, imo the best all around driver and the best designer in the sport. 2011 was the only year where by far and away he had the best car. 2010 was plagued with failures and 2012 the car was slower than the Mclaren. Vettel won due to Hamilton's car "failures" last year, and this is coming from a Vettel fan. And of course RBR is 100% behind him. That would be like Mclaren resenting Senna for winning them 3 titles, itd be stupid not to fully support your 3 times World Champion and the man mainly responsible for you winning 3 straight constructors titles in the process.

Wow. Lewis is sooooo butthurt over Vettel, isnt he? His comments towards Vettel really sound like they are coming from a child who is jealous of another childs toy. Id certainly love to start my career in a Mclaren. I dunno why he likes to act like he is so hard done by. If Lewis put as much effort into his driving as he puts into rubbishing Vettel, he might be able to match Rosberg.

wade. vettel was in a mid field car for 1 year, then he went into another midfield car that had actually done worse. and he gave them their first victory as he had done with str (still ONLY victory). he trounced his team leader easily. so has it not ocured to you yet, that vettel is an above average driver? and lulu is upset because he has been exposed as an average driver?

Not quite right Wade, i recall Vettel started testing for BMW-Sauber in 2006, was their test and reserve driver in 2007 and drove his 1st F1 race when Kubica was injured mid-year. After that STR came calling and he finished that year driving for them. When Seb moved to RB in 2009 it was not a top team and they did not have the fastest car. RB was also not the fastest car in 2012.

Hamilton did none of that, he went straight to a top team.

Vettel has always been a tad emotional when driving. He still has a lot to learn and can definitely improve further, but at least he is a hardworking, sensible, down-to-earth, no-nonsense chap who loves racing and doesn't get caught up in the money-making and celebrity stuff.

This gives him a bad rep especially with Agents and Managers who have been denied opportunity for mega bucks. Imagine the kind of money they would have gotten from representing a 3x WDC!

@Andy, Massa took part in half the races in 2009. Then he wouldn't have won anyway that year with Brawn superiority. his come back was understandably not very strong, but right now he is good as any other driver you can call good. If he gets the same Santandered attention as Alonso he could win races too. Yeah, we all know how he lost and how he won. don't we now?

I didn't at all get the sense that his "bus on a cruise" comment was meant to be offensive.
I just saw it as a more jokingly way of saying "We expected them to blast away but instead they opted for a 1-stopper and were trying to conserve tyres", which was absolutely true.
Seb praised Nico on his drive several times and admitted he didn't have the pace to challange him.

I'm not the biggest Vettel fan but everytime I see one of these articles about Vettel I think people involved in F1 must not understand humor or sarcasm at all. Vettel is pretty much the only driver who tries to joke around in the interviews but once it goes on print everyone interprets it has him being heart attack-serious. No wonder most drivers are so damn stiff all the time.

@Mimi and how did he (Massa) lost, because Gloak decided to use slick tyres in the rain? lets say Gloak had come in and changed for wet weather tires do honestly think he would be ahead of Lewis? When was running 6th and Lewis was 4th when they all pit for wet tires
