Didnt someone from Pirelli say earlier that 90% of what was done was for 2014? That still means 10% of what was done had to be for this year. And 10% of the 1000km test is still, 100km. Which certainly didnt hurt.

Even if the team didnt know what tires were on the car I'm pretty sure Nico and Lewis could easily feel the kind of tires that were on the car, based on the grip levels the tire provides.

Wow, they must think we are complete idiots. I know I'm getting on in years (I mean I am over 50...that's OLD, eh), but I clearly remember the original story was that they were testing tires for the Canadian GP, and that they were doing so in response to the tire wear problems that they've been having this year. This fabrication will suit those who can't stand a good row, and they'll grasp onto this and ride this controversy into the sunset.

can we get through this already give merc what they deserve a points deduction or a team ban altho i think it will be a little harsh to hamilton and rosberg as i know they didnt do the tests it was the test driver that ran 10000km in the merc so i suspect pirelli to get the brunt of things Mercedes only done what they were asked to do same as alonso and massa they took the test just before the season started or just as it started i think that the FIA neeed to take a good look at this as i rekon perilli needs a fine or to get rid of

The FIA are the ones who should be censured by the tribunal for having such stupid and restrictive rules on testing in the first place. If you are looking for a "root cause", then this is it. Any claims about cost-cutting are totally hypocritical given the costs hike that will happen next year solely due to the FIA's rule changes. F1 is MOTOR RACING, not a sop to the "green brigade".
