I know Newey is not a pro driver, but he's certainly been around a while and has forgot more than I will ever know about racing, but I've always been told that weaving back and forth only cleans the tires, it doesn't warm them up. Accelerating and braking hard actually puts heat into the tires. You would think he would know that....

Weaving back and forth works the tyres and brings up the temp. Low speed weaving won't bring them up to optimum racing temps, but it'll still be better than just cruising straight. Accelerating, and particularly spinning the rears, will of course put heat into the rear tyres. Braking will put heat into the tyres, but also the brakes, which will then transfer through into the tyre. But of course it also depends on the tyres and equipment being used.

I seem to remember that he has crashed his GT40 and lightweight E-Type in the past and I also remember his amazing avoidence of a major accident in I think the Guards Trophy at last year's Goodwood Revival, he's only having fun after all but he has won a few races so he's not that bad.

all credit to Adrian for competing in races. yeah, he may have had the odd incident, but so what? racing (mainly in historics) shows that he has a deep interest in the sport, and is not just a design desk guru. the crash was not too bad, and he was not injured.

'Race two however would end before the start after Newey suffered a spin on the green flag lap while attempting to warm his tyres heading onto the Hangar Straight with unfortunate results'......

Where did it say he was weaving????? He may have just given it too many berries.
