The rules have also applied to you Horner and the Red Bull team. Yet that did NOT stop you from bending, breaking them looking for a loophole. So how is he so indignent about someone else using them?

@Rob

Pushing the boundaries on a car design is one thing, they all do it not just Red Bull.

This is the tyres though and as it's one supplier the treatment should be equal across all teams. One team benefited from it's race drivers getting 1000k in this years car and a circuit that is used for testing and is a race circuit, this wasn't straight line runs. Also a 2013 tyre was used, Pirelli have confirmed this.

These are facts and even if they didn't get a sporting advantage it's unfair and outwith the rules.

when you push the boundaries of the car design you are thumbiing your nose at the rule book. Red Bunk thumbed it three times last year and each time kept valuable points doing it. This was a 2014 tire test so there are gray areas. When all said an done I am sure you will find the FIA will do very little to Merc.

I agree with Rob!!! horner is only saying this because they are not as strong as they thought they were!!! and there has been no case of the 2013 tyre used.. every article states the 2014 tyre was used.. Taz if you have read an article champ post the link please.. I think redbull no they are struggling. Ferrari lotus have all built cars around the tyres and the biggest noise is coming from Redbull!!!

rob. my god, you really have the hate for red bull down to a fine art! a topic on tyres and you turn it into a tirade against clever innovations by newey. none of which were illegal. if it were not for the likes of newey, chapman, byrne etc, we would be watching f1 use single cylinder benz quadricycles still!
I don't like the tyre dispute, but if, as merc claim, it was within the rules, then we have to accept it. when a team deliberately breaks the rules, then they should be punished. if legal, so be it!
I have not heard you comment on the McLaren attempt to use an illegal bent floor, or their use of a third pedal to create traction control.
when merc debuted the ddrs last year, you didn't complain. but it was deemed legal even if outside the spirit, as was the f duct by macca.
and how about coanda? that is illegal as per the rules, but as everybody uses it, the fia allow it.

Aside from the legalities or otherwise of the tyre tests, it's interesting to see the different attitudes of two teams whose cars are not preforming as well as they should/could. On the one hand you have McLaren basically saying they are doing everything they can to overcome the deficiencies of their car. On the other you have Horner et al in RBR blaming everything and everyone (other than themselves) for their inability to run out front. Rather shows a lack of maturity on RB's part - but then they are a young team, and their "brand" product is aimed at the younger populace, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised

@matty

Got plenty mate but you can't post them here.

Take a look at Adam Coopers blog, some pretty interesting info there although that highlights that Pirelli may in breach of the rules asnd not as squeekly clean as they are making out.

this is totally off topic, but I hope that crash show the pictures of marias helmet after her incident. photo is on yalla. she was really, really lucky to survive.

matty. Pirelli have openly admitted that they tested 10% with 2013 tyres! and merc admitted that they learnt to understand the 2013 tyre more. what more do you want?
