F1 » Montreal ends 64-race record for mediocre McLaren

There was nowhere to hide for a dispirited McLaren team at Montreal, with neither driver getting in the points in Canada - the first time they've missed out in 64 races.

Far from improving they seem to be dropping further and further behind. Buttons recent comments that he was not thinking about extending his contract suggests that he has itchy feet, I assume he has a get out clause in his contract if the team fail to provide him with an competitive car which is exactly what has happened. Could he be on the move, Ferrari were very interested recently but it would require Button to accept the number two slot, however at this stage of his career he will have few options other than retirement or to stay with a disintegrating Mclaren team who seem lost for inspiration and devoid of real leadership.

@ richard
Michael very well may be a large part of the problem, but it's the head of the team who's ultimately responsible for personnel hired and their performance. It's hard not to like Whitmarsh, but this is F1, and McLaren we're talking about -- there's no room for failure here.

I'm not a Mclaren fan by any means but jesus. Bring back last year's car already. Instant competitor. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and admit you completely got it wrong. When Button is quoted as saying I couldn't wait to get out of the car, what does that tell you?
