Caterham will continue to monitor its current line-up as both Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde show signs of development, according to team principal Cyril Abiteboul.

Think the driver pairing is ok for Caterham this year. No, they're not the best drivers in F1 but they're pretty decent, with enough results in junior categories to warrant them being in F1. They're definitely no worse than last year's pairing of Kova and Vit, as shown when Kova came in in FP a few times this year and was way off the current drivers' pace eventhough everyone seemed to expect he'd be a lot faster for reasons I'll never understand.

Judging by relative performance compared to teammates Guttierez and Chilton are the worst out there this year and Grosjean too but at least he has shown to have some speed sometimes.

The only one I'd be sacking is Guttierez...he just doesn't seem to have the speed nor the killer instinct and he's costing the team championship positions. As for Chilton it doesn't really matter who's driving that car so as long as he pays I guess he's safe.

From memory, wasn't Kovi driving the old chassis at the test? Pic had the current one then they put the upgrades on. So don't knock Kovi. Anyway, it just shows no-one is going to wring any more performance out of it for now, not even Vettel or Alonso. Looks like Kovi just confirmed the status-quo!

@ZEDX

Kova was driving vdG's car in Bahrain which did not have the big update that Pic's car had that weekend...neither for him nor for vdG that entire weekend. Still, vdG had a much faster time in FP2 than Kovalainen in FP1 to such an extent that even taking in things like different circumstances/temp/etc it was clear that Kova defintely wasn't a lot faster than the current drivers like some including he himself had predicted.

His other outings in FPs this year also confirmed the same thing...despite what some like to think, Kova is not faster than the current drivers, so either the fanb0iz should finally conclude the glaringly obvious (that he isn't a top driver) or accept that the current drivers aren't as bad as some like to make them out to be. One can't have his cake and eat it too :D

jjj. my, you have the nationalistic pride pretty bad! kovi was not going for times, he was testing parts! as I said before, to even think that vdg is anywhere near kovis standard, is just plain ridiculous. same goes for pic.
