Mercedes suggests missing the F1 Young Driver Test as a possible sanction over its Pirelli tyre test if the FIA elects to take action

Harris insisted before the tribunal that Mercedes had "acted in good faith throughout, conducting a test to the benefit of all F1 participants."

ie they were doing the other teams a favour, so should not and do not deserve punishment.

Whilst i agree that this is no sort of punishment surely something has to be done about "going to Charlie Whiting", not the first time he seems to have OK'd something when it seems he has no power to do so.....

I love the fact that Pirelli's response was basically f*** off you have no jurisdiction over us...made me chuckle.

Yes Merc have got away with this but it does seem they asked a question of the FIA and were given the go ahead. Had there been no grey areas Merc may have gotten more than the slap on the wrist.
