Lewis Hamilton leads Mercedes 1-2 in opening practice for the German Grand Prix as session passes off without tyre problems.

Little while since I watched Jenson come out , lay down his first flying lap that was good enough to remain 7th fastest at session end.
The car looked a bit more stable with some free flowing moments. Too much to hope he will do better here?
Despite the acid directed towards him from certain quarters, he would be welcome in any of the teams , as a driver, and an ambassador. He is also no mug, and there are signs that he IS thinking about life other than at McLaren. He can race with the best of them, but not in his current chariot. No other driver would do any better, other than take the car off the track, a pointless exercise...
