Fernando Alonso: Even if we were hoping to finish on the podium, finishing less than eight seconds off Vettel after starting eighth is an encouraging result

Ferrari is falling behind, since Silverstone at least. In Canada with clear track ahead Alonso was able to match or beat Vettel's lap times during the race. Now they choses different strategies and they win nothing. With Webber pitstop blunder I guess Alonso would have finished fourth still on a more normal strategy. In China we too had a race like this with very different strategies and the same drivers as then (the 5 world champions), including Grosjean this time finished on the top positions. In these kind of races the best drivers demonstrate their prowress.

Ferrari has really been diminished technically. Here is hoping Allison is going there. Four years with Alonso and not one competitive car, what a waste. Alonso's greatest career mistake as time will tell. Really disappointing and amazing that he continues to put up such a positive outlook, not surprising, just amazing.

Nobody is saying why Alonso stopped immediately after the finish line. Is Ferrari beyond questioning. At the interview after the race, after he answered the tire question and before the moderator could ask about the early stop after the finish, he immediately left. Something is "fishy."

I hear what nealio is saying. Red Bull and now Merc seem to have all the top guys. Ross Brawn, Bob Bell, Aldo Costa, Geoff Willis, Paddy Lowe, etc are all at Merc and Red Bull have Newey on lock down. Hope Allison goes to Ferrari - just for the sake of competition.
