“Red Bull has a marketing programme, and Kimi just wants to be a race...” – Eddie Jordan

Cant say I agree with you samh. Red Bull need to show that their junior development program works otherwise why would juniors sign with them?

Ricciardo has shown excellent pace and racecraft all season and easily outdone JEV. His fastest lap in the YDT was very close to Vettels too. He is the perfect fit for that team and the Red Bull image.

EJ seems to be guessing here rather than having some inside info like his Hamilton to Merc exclusive. NO pals in RBR I guess, hardly surprising given some of his TV interviews.

Pretty certain Kimi was their 1st target but if a deal can't be done then Riccardo deserves a stab at it.

I'd guess because they see a previous product of the programme is a 3x WDC

Jordan did guess it last year about Hamilton and Mercedes. It may have some sense. Red Bull tested Riccardo in the YTD and Lotus are saying that they will do everything to keep Raikkonen in their team. I red somewhere than at the end of 2001 season Raikkonen was being hunted by both Ferrari and McLaren for the 2002 season. He signed for McLaren in order to replace Mika Hakkinen and said afterwards that he prefered McLaren because he can count on them giving him an equal chance as Coulthard to fight for race wins and the championship. He didn't want to become Michael Schumacher's team-mate and playing second handle to him. There was a lot of years ago, Who knows if Kimi still thinks this way?!

I reckon Jordan is right. The same thing happened John Watson at McLaren in the '80s. The Marlboro man wanted someone who would do the promotional work hence why Alain Prost got the job. Watson was not going to fit in there.

if kimi does not go to rbr soon, I doubt that any other announcement will be made before the end of the season. the trouble is that jev is , in race pace, better than ricciardo. the trouble is that he doesn't quali well. jev has been taken out by others when doing well . the dilemma that rbr has, is whether to go with the faster, more aggressive driver, jev, or to go with a steadier but slower driver.
however, if ricciardo and jev are considered to need another year, rbr have a choice of some other available and fast drivers, such as hulk.

I cannot believe some of these posts would pick the "erratic" " none technical" "over driving" "crashing" Jev for RB.....

You all need think about RB being your Team and Business and then think of risk management,,,,only a loon would choose JEV.....

Unless this is a anti aussie thing going on with some of you.. it doesn't make sense?....

"BUT JEV has more points"!!!! .......

Clearly if you dissect every race Jev and RB have had as teammates it is very clear DR is the developing and maturing Talent....JEV is a massive risk taker, verging on Bonsai at times....He is fast but desperate and not always a clear thinking racer.
What amazes me about these comments is RB know they want DR over Jev, the F1 racing experts know that DR is the Talent, even Seb would want DR...but the some experts in here say they are all wrong...too funny..
