F1 » Sirotkin: don't dismiss me as a 'pay driver'

Sauber's young driver recruit for 2014, Sergey Sirotkin, has insisted that he'll be ready for F1 by the start of next season and that it would be wrong to dismiss him as a pay driver.

Surely, the sensible thing would be to install him as test/reserve driver so he can "watch & learn" . I'd be amazed if the authorities let him loose into a full race seat straight away.

Well I guess that if you accept his father is one of the investors with his own money and has put together the other finance for the Sauber deal through his Russian Government connections, then Sergei being *selected* as the best choice, does kinda make him a pay driver in the same mold as Petrov.

Did Petrov's manager speak English? As I believe that Sergei's Russian manager does not, which could be a bit of a handicap in the world of F1.......:)
