Martin Brundle: Lewis is still in there. He's got some points on the board so he's not out of sight already...

Martin Brundle has always been a Hamilton fan so at least he is being consistent. However the likelyhood of Hamilton winning the championship is very small, Merceded have still not sorted out their tyre problems while Redbull and Vettel are there or thereabouts at every race. With half the season to go I would expect Vettel to win at least half those races and finish in the top three in the others so I don't believe anybody has a chance let alone Hamilton

The only way Lewis can have any chance is if the Mercs team can get over their tire problems which has affected the teams race pace. When we see the driver who is considered by most to be the quickest in F1 going from first to fifth you know something is very wrong and the Mercs team have had half of the season to try and get on top of the tire situation which see's them blow away the opposition on a Saturday and find reverse gear on a Sunday and until they can sort out this problem then Lewis has no chance of even being a contender for the 2013 WDC.

There seems to be a growing consensus that Lewis IS the "fastest" driver in F1. Shame we have never seen him in an Adrian Newey car....to enjoy his outright pace, no tyre management issues, just all out raw pace.

Can anyone explain to me why some people insist that Lulu is "the fastest F1 driver the world has ever seen?" Yet he finishes an average 5th every year and always in a car that is capable of winning the championship. And Button beat him outright one year. And Nico is comparing equally to him this year. And just what the he!! is "outright raw speed" anyway? Is that what happened at the Loews hairpin to Massa a couple years ago? Did he get trapped in Lulu's warp-drive?
Looks like Brundle has the same passion for Lulu that Ron Dennis always did. Pure dudelove.

I have never seen Lewis regarded as the "fastest ever seen", but he is seriously quick. During his 6 full seasons in F1 he has only been beaten by a team-mate (WDC for 4 of those seasons) 1 season, and has an average finish of 3.6 in the WDC. During that time period his team has never won the WCC. His detractors love to pounce on his mistakes and there have been many, but what driver in F1 today has not made their fair share?
