Eric Boullier says he is optimistic of keeping Kimi Raikkonen for 2014 - if Lotus can keep the Finn happy

All Eric needs to do is keep the car development going to Raikkonen satisfaction. Without consistent good results Raikkonen will not hang around. After all he came to win, and is unlike a Jenson, who is happy to amble along provided his points tally do not overly embarrass him. Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton, and Raikkonen will always squeeze out something more than a car is capable of in lesser hands. But, upset these drivers long enough with a poor car and team back in, and they're off.

It seems Lotus provides weekly press releases stating they are certain they can keep Kimi. And they claim the financing is in place to secure the future of the team. Yet this "done deal" seems anything but. I am beginning to think that Kimi wants to stay and is waiting to see if the finances really are in place, and Boullier makes these statements to assure all is well in the Lotus camp. Hope so, but the longer this plays out the more likely he will leave, as it is almost certain he has received a concrete offer from Red Bull.

Let's see: Red Bull wants me, Lotus wants me. Red Bull has won the last 3 WDCs. Lotus (Renault) has not won a championship since 2006. Red Bull has twice the budget of Lotus. Lotus has missed a payday or two. Like this is a hard choice? One thing Kimi is not is a fool.

Jim, I agree Kimi is no fool. He's also not exactly in need of money and he can't be ar$ed doing PR work. Lotus don't seem to place many demands on him other than driving and that suits him. I'm pretty sure being a RBR driver would be more demanding on the PR front.
IF Lotus can continue to deliver competitive cars (and some wages) I think Kimi will stay. But saying all that I'd rather see him at RBR next season.

Yeah that would be good for lotus if Kimi gets a better team mate that Grosjean. they could be third in the constructor or even second if only Grosjean score more points rather than being near the tail end of P10
