I think it is sad as I did enjoy watching this track. It was like a high speed Monaco or Singapore. Its amazing how much it costs to put on a GP. I can understand their situation. No matter how much we love F1, schools, hospitals and other municipals should never suffer as a result.

Hi speed Monaco? More like a medium speed drive through a shipping container yard.
Awful track, hope it never returns to the calender. 2012 did produce a good race but that was more down to tyres than track as every other race there was dire.

we can all blame the americans! when the marina complex was created at Valencia, it was for the Americas cup, and, Switzerland , the holders, having no coastline, arranged for spain to hold the event, hoping that Valencia would become the spiritual home for the cup. unfortunately the yanks won the cup and decided to hold the races in American waters. only the f1 track was keeping the place alive. now the Spanish govt do not have the resources to upkeep the venue, and it is like a wasteland now.

@richard - I wish that we could give the Americas Cup back. There is very little enthusiasm here in San Francisco for the Americas Cup. It looks like there will only be two teams contesting the event. It has cost the city a huge amount of money. It is too bad that we couldn't have wasted that money on a F1 race instead.

Uh Bernie, your greed and standover extortion tactics never seem to amaze us...go on, squeeze 'em to death, they are struggling for funds now to keep the country going, why not be responsible for pushing them further down in the s#@t - right up your alley.
