Niki Lauda suggests that Fernando Alonso would be the wrong man for Red Bull if they tried to sign the Spaniard for 2014

Typical Niki. Commenting on what other teams should do, whether he is asked or not. In this case, however, he is probably correct. And, I find it interesting that he has a comment at all. He clearly feels there is merit to the rumours currently being dismissed as fanciful speculation. I suspect we will know in a few day's time.

I'm assuming by trouble he means that Alonso wouldn't want to be a number 2 driver? When you think about it, would Raikkonen?

And then he says something about Ferrari not being able to risk it. Huh?

I agree with Lauda. Alonso always wants to be number one, he has a lot of ego. I believe that Vettel also has a similar ego, he demonstrated it many times and the multi 21 affair was the highlight of it. Maybe their rivalry could bring Red Bull to new limits of speed but also it could destroy them especially regarding the WDC.

I have to agree with Lauda as much as I rate Alonso if Vettel did to Alonso like what Lewis did to Alonso in 2007 I don't think Horner could manage that situation and that is why he would not sign Lewis as we would see Alonso disrupting the Red Bull team like he did to McLaren in 2007, so he should stay where he is and try and help Ferrari to a tittle instead of tying to leave a sinking ship.

But I would love to see Alonso v Vettel in the best car that would be good

I love richard's somewhat more cynical take on this story lol. And I agree to a point. Lauda is just playing mind games and trying to distabilize the opposition ahead of the resumption of racing! A Vettel-Alonso combination would be near-unbeatable.
