Mark Webber has let slip his views on who will take his seat at Red Bull next season, but does his opinion match that of the team?

Red Bull must sign a very good driver next year, possibly a great driver. Next year begins a new era, and reports say that the new Mercedes engine can outperform anything that Adrian Newey can gain out of the aerodynamics. So they need one Kimi or one Fernando alongside Seb to fight Lewis and Nico, possibly Jenson and Perez as well. The problem is that Ferrari too needs the same drivers.

@JJJ That or the fact that Webber normally sucks at starts as he has for most of his career. You really believe they would sabotage his start? Yeah they don't care about the constructors at all. Its not like you get a truck full of money by winning it or anything...

"reports say that the new Mercedes engine can outperform anything that Adrian Newey can gain out of the aerodynamics"

I've seen endless quotes of this nature, but buggered if I know what they're based on.

None of these engines have even been off the bench yet, so quite how someone comes to the conclusion that the Merc engine is already the best, and good enough to overcome Newey's designs is really quite beyond me!

Sounds like Hamilton fanboy optimism to me!

@Bobkp
First of all I am not a fan of Hamilton. Second the V6 engines development is in an advanced development phase right now. Third, anything has to finish on day. Red Bull can't win forever...Someone will beat them. If not Mercedes another team will beat them. It's just a matter of time...2014, 2015 or 2016? Only time will tell this.

So the experts, who have never seen Ricciardo in a top flight car, are 100% sure the other drivers would be faster. Quick, pick up the phone and ring the team owners. Obviously they haven't got the knowledge to pick the drivers like our panel of expert on crash.net.

Mark has never been one to call a spade a shovel. he tells it like it is whether people like it or not. He is off to sports cars next year, what can the team do if he opens his mouth early? sack him? Good on you mark, I'm glad it's Dan and not Kimi..
