F1 » F1 2013 POLL: Who sparkled in Spa?

The weather turned out surprisingly benign for once in Spa-Francorchamps, and that suited Sebastian Vettel just fine, thank you very much. But will he also dominate the battle for Driver of the Day?

Is there really any question? Vettel mollycoddled Hamilton part way through lap 1 for the lead and disappeared into the distance. Only to be seen again when they told him on the radio to back off to ensure reliability. And on the restarts he immediately yanked back a comfortable cushion to the #2 guy following.
Ferdi did do a good drive though.

Vettel was his typical dominate self. Alonso was great as usual from a poor grid position to end up on the podium. For me, the driver of the day is Ricciardo. At a race where so much pressure would have been on him to preform with the 2nd Redbull seat on the line, add to that a bad strategy call and early exit in qualifying, ending up behind his team mate to compound the worry. He showed real metal to claw his way back up the grid to finish in the points. Especially because there is talk of JEV being a better racer. Great drive by Ricciardo.

Ptolemy. I like your enthusiasm fr a great driver, but where were the restarts?????? I never saw a safety car all race long!

johnmarston. jingoism is all very well, but do you not think that Alonso, lulu, nico, massa, hulkenberg etc etc were not superior to dr?? even vdg deserved more praise

Hey Richard. It's an opinion, just because I'm not sharing yours doesn't make mine wrong. After all, the article is asking us to share our thoughts on who we believe was the best driver of the day. So I did.

Alonso went from 9th to 5th on first lap. After that Lewis had a slower car and Webber had clutch issues the whole race. Where is this Alonso magic? You guys listen to all the yelling Ferrari does and believe it. Vettel was easily the best driver on the track.

Let the Vettel denial begin!

Vettel was king of Spa this weekend. No one else could even touch him. Great pass on the first lap, and then easily built a huge cushion in barely no time at all. Everytime sometime pushed he stomped on the throttle to demoralize them. Not to mention absolutely demolishing the fastest lap just for fun. But of course he wont win the poll.

Alonso gets a special mention for a beast of a start(as usual) and quickly dispatching Webber and Lewis. The Ferrari looked very strong this weekend. Dont think they had quite the pace to challange Vettel even if they had qualified better but Monza should be very intersting!

Alonso from 9th to 2nd was impressive, great first few laps. Vettel was dominant though and should be acknowledged for a vintage Prost/Senna like drive. Ricciardo had a stella final stint with consistent lap times similar to Vettels.

Vettel has owned the entire field for 3 years. All this talk of Alonso the best on the grid is bull crap. Alonso hasn't won a title in either catergory since he left Renault the first time. Count the years yourself. He hasn't deliivered crap. Vettel is the King of F1.
