Well he clearly has had the better of Chilton this year and by some margin, but I guess then the question is how much of that is because he is a good driver and how much is that because Chilton blows.

I have to say I'm positively surprised by Bianchi this year...I thought previously that while quick, he was a bit of a crashkid and inconsistent. Also these last couple of years before his F1 chance while always being in good teams and among the favourites he never quite managed to take the title in GP2 or WSBR and he moaned a bit too much IMO, particularly in the light of some of his own antics on track.

But yeah, now I'd say he deserves a chance at a team capable of scoring points and see how he fares there.

A mid-field team? Why that sounds like Ferrari! This plan of bringing his career along is just so much smoke. In another two years Ferrari will say he is too old for a seat.
Vettel's career path is the new paradigm. Podiums and a win in a backmaker team and then into championship contention with a top tier team. That is what all the team's are looking for now from up and comers, that or deep, deep pockets. Best of luck Bianchi, times running out.

"In another two years Ferrari will say he is too old for a seat."

You're kidding. When have Ferrari ever been known to tell someone they're "too old" to race their cars? If anything, historically they've leant towards seasoned racers rather than taking risks on youngsters.

Saubers "dancecard" for 2014 appears to look something like this, Hulkenberg has cancelled his contract because of non/late payment of salary so he is now a free agent and can do as he pleases. Guitterez is confirmed for 2014 and the Russian kid will be doing testing and 3rd driver roll during 2014 with possibly a seat for 2015. So it looks like there will be a spot available at Sauber as Hulk is widely tipped as leaving for places unknown.

Sauber...? So if they are signing the young Russian and Bianchi, that means Hulk is moving on also. Maybe a move to Ferrari? 2 year deal then Bianchi to join him when Alonso leaves at the end of 2015?

Force India (Sutil) , Toro Rosso (Ricciado) and Williams (Bottas) could all have vacant seats at the end of the season.
Problem for all of them is that there doesnt seem to be a 'must sign' driver around. In the last 10 years or so we have had Alonso, Kubica, Rosberg, Vettel and Hamilton but since 2007 there hasn't been any little sign of anything approaching the calibre of them. Perez and Hulkenberg haven't really cut the mustard but are the closest, although neither really look like WDC material.
The recent desperate need for cash has meant low grade, well funded drivers will always prevail over the unsponsored highly skilled. Go forward 5 years - Alonso, Button, Raikkonen, Rosberg and Hamilton will all be between 33-38 and there is no-one on the horizon to take over from them. GP2 is failing to provide potential champions and money can't buy skill.
Marquez has turned the cosy world of motoGP upside down. F1 needs its version of Marquez and it needs it very soon. Bianchi is not that
