I thought that Newey alongside Horner preferred Raikkonen at the second Red Bull. I thought that it was Marko who insisted in Riccardo as a talented driver of Red Bull's driver development program. Maybe I am missinformed by the medias or this man is lying on the matter.

Suspect Newey and Horner wanted Kimi but it makes STR a bit of a nonsense if they don't promote a junior driver eventually.

He will be a No2 driver next year, anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves, good luck to him though.

@bob jane
I am pretty sure that Dietrich had the final word on the matter. But I agree with Taipan's opinion about STR's role. And I agree with richard as well who said that Dan was the plan B, they failed to reach an agreement with Raikkonen and his manager. Speaking again about the boss(Dietrich). I believe he would love to sign Alonso, he admires a lot Alonso's skill behind the stering wheel. But for the sake of his own team harmony and of his pockets as well, he didn't insist to brake the lucrative contract between Alonso and Ferrari. Anyway good luck to Dan.
