Rou, It's funny how some people see Massa's performance in 2008 as being so long ago that it's now irrelevant. But the very same people still chirp on about Lulu being epic because of what he did in 2007 and 2008.

Rou, he is good enough to lead a team to a championship, and for about 20 seconds in 2008 he did. Massa is clearly the best option for Lotus if they want a fast and experienced driver. He is better than the other potential options of Hulkenberg, Di Resta, Bianchi, Vergne and seeing as Webber is retiring they can't hire him. It's only people blinded by their arrogance who think he isn't good enough to lead a team to a championship.

Whomever ends up in that seat may full well be in one of the fastest cars on the grid in 2014. Lets remember that it was the "team from Enstone" that took the fight to Schumi and Ferrari and somehow came out on top in 2005 and 2006. They have Renault providing the power. Renault is as good or better at that job than ANY of the other manufacturers. I think The Hulk is a natural shoe-in now. But it would be funny to see Flip get the drive and turn around and beat up Ferdi and Kimi with his "new car."

matt2. so outqualifying Alonso is irrelevant, as is shadowing him for a whole race? well by that bright analysis, Alonso is also useless?

rou. it appears it is you who is blinded by your own emotions! why the hell does massa not deserve a good seat? he is better than most of the others on the grid. his only failing is that he is a gentleman, and accepted the Ferrari orders too readily.

@richard it seems you are the one blinded by your emotions

12 races so far and Massa has been able to keep up with Alonso in one race? I wouldnt say hes competitive.
Massa is great guy, I have nothing against him. But when you look at hes performaces against Alonso, not that it has been always fair fight but still... If it comes between Hulkenberg and Massa to Lotus seat I would pick Hulk everytime. Massa has had hes change, I want to see what Hulkenberg is made of (and I think hes faster than current form Massa, if this would be year 2008 it would be other way around, but its 2013 now...)

Taipan, unfortunately Hamilton fans will still be chirpin about that 08' title till he retires because I personally don't see him winning another one. Richard, maybe my post came across a little to direct. My honest opinion is that even with full team support he would fail to make anything out of it.
