Lotus insists that it will make its driver decision for 2014 on merit, and not on money

That's what I thought. But one possibility they might have now that apparently some more testing will be allowed again is to give Massa a day in the car and evaluate what he can do...Of course then Massa would have to be willing to do that but if he's serious about wanting to get the maximum of what is left from his F1 carreer he should be. If they're forced to make a blind choice I'd say Hulk is a shoe-in at this point, from the young(er) drivers in F1 with some years of experience he has shown by far the most promise/highlights coupled with a least some degree of consistency.

I'm perplexed. Somewhere i believe that it remains some motivation and one lap-speed for Massa but if i have to choice right now i would say Hulk quite easily.

I see Massa's choice like a bet. Is he really hungry to battle for the title ? I don't know but i want to believe it.
