In a shock move, Toro Rosso has signed up 19-year-old Russian driver Daniil Kvyat straight from GP3 to take over from Daniel Ricciardo in 2014.

There is more to motor racing than F1 people, Kvyat has been on the international scene for a couple of years now and has shown a lot of potential. He is F1 quality but I do think he needs a couple more years in lower categories to mature as a driver. It does seem like a hasty decision so it's likely money played a part but he does have the components needed to succeed. Best of luck to him!

Shock move for AF da C I'm sure...Strange they went for Daniil and not Carlos Sainz Jr as he was a bit quicker in the test they did IIRC.

Wonder if he brought a bit of extra coin to the table, but in general I'm glad to see young talent get a chance and he has shown some promise.

Well look at it this way Gazza, if da Costa's wilted under the pressure of a potential F1 seat then how will he fare once actually in F1, or even in the RB team? On the plus side I don't see any news of da Costa being dropped from the notoriously harsh driver scheme so that's at least a positive that he can take away, assuming he's not about to be dropped any time soon.
