if button or perez can at least salvage a podium this season it will save embarrasment of a no podium finish for mclaren in 2013 wich has not happened since 1980 when Alain Prost and John Watson wrestled with the uncompetitive M29 and M30.

I think we all know where they stand, the car is not quick enough for a podium unless something unusual happens so I expect them to be fighting for a few points down the finishing order, some where between 7 and 12 would be my guess. I don't see any real hope of a podium to save their embarrasment, there are at least 8 and possibly more cars that are faster then them.

McLaren are genuinely quick in a straight line, wont do them much good in qualifying but it could be handy in the race. McLaren are looking better than Ferrari so far but a podium would still be a major surprise.
