Sabotaged? I'd think that unlikely, but whether Lotus has the money to correct the problem with the car....sounds like something requiring a structural rework of the main chassis. Lotus may have figured, 3 races left, is it worth the effort on the chance it gets checked again? If they don't have the money to pay Kimi anything yet, they're clearly running on fumes and borrowed time.

I have to wonder, if one guy on a team fails a structural test, which does not include damage, why don't they test the other driver's car? You have to think RG has the same floor in his car :) Lolz. Some things don't make very much sense, but maybe it's more politics than integrity when it comes to 'scrutineering'.

pcxmerc. trying to get lulu another place higher? if you read the pre race reports, you will know that kimi was using a different car. he was in the swb car, and big john was in the lwb car. so it does not follow that the floors were the same.

@rich, please try not to confuse dimension with construction :) I understand your simple point, and it's appeal. Next time leave induction for people who have the slightest of clue :)

As for Kimi, he just needs to cover his position and make sure he can keep the pressure on the team. As for the scrutineers, seeing as how Lotus have made it a point to deflect speculation that their floor is out of bounds they only checked one driver when it seems Lotus have made it a 'trend' in furnishing their cars with flexi-floors, something the scrutineers didn't seem was worth the look on Lotus' other car.

Pcxmac, it is not practical or possible for the stewards to carry-out all checks on the FIA list on all cars taking place in and during qualifying, some of the checks are carried out randomly, sort of same check system used at a container terminal customs. For an FIA technical report of the checks done by the stewards for the 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix go to, FIA document 30 date 02 November 2013 TIME 21.46 (HTTP//184.106.145.7.NTNUMBER-30PDF).
A note, Kimi's front tea tray/bib tilting up more than 5mm will hyave to be fixed/corrected by Lotus as the car will for sure be checked again after the race and the consequences of not passing the test will be disqualification from the race.
