An FP1 run is nice but in reality it doesn't translate into real world track experience or than serving as a meager test drive.

Now what F1 should do is incorporate a wild card type system similar to that of MotoGP/WSBK where prospective F1 drivers could real world top level race experience.

I guess Rossi will be the next 'merican to fail to make it to an F1 raceseat. On results alone he isn't going to make it...a decent driver but not the top of the field in GP2. US sponsors don't really seem interested to put millions down for a seat either and that will be that.

Probably will have a good carreer outside of F1 though, sportscar racing is thriving in the US and IRL is...uhm...still going so he probably has enough options to choose from.
