Interestingly, in another article he states he returned his signed contract on Friday only to be told it was rejected on Monday. Yet we understand the contract was initially offered much earlier. I wonder if he was squeezing McLaren a little and they said enough. Since they could not place Magnussen they instead put him in a McLaren seat. We will probably learn a little more only after the season finale.

"he was still unclear as to the team's reasons for making the decision to let him go"

- Driving other cars of the track
- Driving into other cars on numerous occasions
- Wheel banging with his team mate
- Scored a lot less points for the team than Button.
- Outqualified by Button
- Telmex perhaps not willing to commit the money McLaren hoped

There's a few reasons.

A pretty arrogant way to handle things regardless of who it was. Mclaren are an arrogant team who believe they are the best thing since sliced bread. They may have been once but since RD went and Whitmarsh took over they have lost that aura of invincebility and class. They are lucky to have had someone like Button who has handled himself with aplomb despite the appalling car that he has had at his disposal. Can anyone seriously imagine that Alonso/Hamilton/or Vettel/Raikonnen would'nt have been extremely vocal and have threatened to walk out if something was'nt done. Hopefully they have learned from this shambles because if they have'nt thay will be Joining Williams as one of the greats who completely lost the plot and never regained it.
