'Hi Sergio, yeah, we're dumping you from the team, but we're going to make sure you're in another car on the grid. It's not like were saying your a piece of s**t, it's just that we'll treat you like a piece of s**t, but we'll make sure that you get thrown to someone else to deal with."

Could you imagine the face of Bruce McLaren if he was seeing this? He would be so dissapointed and angry that his dynasty is being run like this.

How very nice of him! we chose you because you had a shed load of money but you are not good enough and the monies dried up so we have decided to sack you and find you a nice drive in one of the worst cars on the grid, oh wait a minute is'nt that the Mclaren!!!!! sorry about that!!!!!!

"looks like the whole episode has been handled in a very Amateur way!!!"

No, in fact it was handled in a very professional way. They are running a business, not a charity. They have to make a decision as a business that will be the best for their business, not their conscience.

They waited till the last minute to ensure they made the decision they thought best.

It's business people, get over it!

I think McLaren dumped him because Carlos Slim refused to pay them millions of pounds / dollars to splash his colours all over their cars & uniforms. He is only willing to sponsor Perez himself.

McLaren are getting really desperate, they have lost Vodafone hopefully to Mercedes, they have to pay for their Mercedes engines in 2014, they need money. Nobody seems to want to sponsor them and there is sponsorship shortage worldwide.

* I am a McLaren fan.

""I've told him the Ferrari seats have gone, the same with Mercedes, Red Bull and Toro Rosso"

Oh, wow, you really did tell him that, Mr Whitmarsh? Did you also tell him that F1 cars have four wheels and no roof?

I'm often wondering if it's just bad journalism or they really do say meaningless BS like that just to fulfil their media obligations?

Well, the Whitmarsh bashing aside, the criticisms of Perez seem more widespread and more serious than imagined. This clearly factored into the decision and understandably so. High maintenance drivers seldom last unless they are winning a great deal or at least outperforming their teammate. He has done neither.
