With the driver and team titles long ago locked up by Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull respectively, we now know the runner-up in the driver's championship - even if the team battle is wide open.

Taipan is right 4th

McLaren or STR

But when he has had the fastest car he still choked in 2010 and 2012. Ferrari and Renault have one of the fastest race pace on the grid but when your poor at qualifying? you could get away with it at the beginning of the season but not from mid season.

Cjay, Fernando didn't "choke" in 2010 and 2012. 2010 was a bad team decision in the last race of the year. 2012 could be put down to a certain driver driving up his backside.

Alonso even said himself that 2012 was his best year of driving, even if he didn't win the WDC.

Alonso is one of the very few drivers that doesn't choke, or not very often.

in 2010 Alonso lost the title at turn one when he tried to cover off Button, the team wouldnt have to cover off Webber if Alonso was chasing Lews.

In 2012 apart from Grosjaen brain fart what else? Alonso tried to go round the outside in Suzuka, was he expecting Kimi to disappear? Vettel didnt have a car until Singapore when the genius (Newey) came up with a rear wing the that blows differently. And Ferrari got so desperate they treated Massa like a guinea pig

@Richard the Sauba has great straight line speed like the Lotus

The only ones to have 'choked it' were Ferrari the team. Pretty much everything else has been Alonso falling victim to circumstances beyond his control, e.g., Grojean attempting to leap frog the grid going into turn one.
