I've checked the calender and I'm certain it's not April the 1st, but the Guardian has ranked the drivers this season as follows...

1. Vettel
2. GroJo
3. Hulk
4. Rosberg
5. Bottas
6. Kimi
7. Bianchi
8. Ricciardo
9. Lulu
10. Webber
11. CHILTON!!!
12. ALONSO!
13. di Resta
14. Button
15. Massa
16. Sooty
17. JEV
18. Van Der Garde
19. Gutierrez
20. Perez
21. Pic
22. Maldonado

Wow that list is awful. Why the hell is Grosjean that high (he's come into his own but too late to be ranked that high)? Why is Alonso so low after finishing a clear 2nd in the championship? Why's Chilton so high? Dude has gotten better but has been by and large the slowest driver in F1 (not just in terms of their cars but relative performance). Perez shouldn't be THAT low and BOTTAS? He has had maybe 3 good performances this entire season.

For Alonso: "He looked a real title challenger when he won in China and Spain early in the season. And he remained wonderfully consistent, with nine podium finishes. But he also had a row with Ferrari and he didn't have a good enough car. The mid-season change of tyres appeared to cost him but, nevertheless, did not look quite as formidable as he has been."

The first 2 sentences should give him a top 5 placing at least. Oh but he didn't have a good enough car? I don't think that should've dropped his ranking.
