Niki Lauda admitted that fate played a part in persuading Lewis Hamilton to join Mercedes' F1 effort for 2013.

When Lewis went out, I knew also at that instant it was over, his body language said it all, and he wasn't upset as usual, he seemed almost happy, that said to me he was gone. It was a fortunate move, can you imagine his behaviour if he was at McL in 13, probably not too happy, he may have gotten a lucky podium though

If Hamilton had finished races where he was leading (Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Brazil) and not been punted off by Maldonado in Valencia, he would've finished a very close second to Vettel last year.

Which would probably have been enough to persuade him to stay at Mclaren.

He's had a lucky escape

What no Taipan to tell us how Hamilton faked the whole thing and fell on a good payday yet delivered less than Shumi? Oh - that's right, he actually beat Shumi record at Merc in a single year thus he may be a little busy eating his words from last year...

I just hope 014 gives us just a little more of a level playing field because this has been a joke...
