Bernie Ecclestone says he would like to see the final three races of the F1 season award double points - although he admits that the rule could be dropped for 2014

Should make all races quadruple points. Gosh, think how much more exciting it would be then. In 2015 he could consider having 8x points, but that would cause too many medical problems through over-excitement.

It's only Bernie generating column inches. He can't help it.
Please give generously and remember - a Bernie is not just for Christmas, it's for life (or until a jail sentence).

Daft idea from an increasingly daft old man, the sooner he go's the better for F1 and all of us. People in his position should know when to go and not have to be pushed, We need someone with some new ideas and less of a tarnished reputation, in short someone who is honest and genuinely wants F1 to improve and is less concerned with lining his families pocket.

That would be rather a difficult task to find someone you suggest to replace Bernie.

"less of a tarnished reputation, in short someone who is honest and genuinely wants F1 to improve and is less concerned with lining his families pocket." I would say that's a contradiction in terms."

I'm not a big fan of this double points thing, butI think Bernie has a point that the last three races would be better than just the last. Make sure last 3 circuits are very different so not favouring any particular car and it could work.

It would have the benefit of encouraging teams to go for radical developments early season, without such a big disadvantage if they don't work out, and time to get back on parr with the others before the big points races.

Double points for last race becomes too much of a lottery, but last three makes things much more interesting.

mrfill. imagine....there would not be enough room on sebs helmet to record the record number of points. mind you, ferdi could still have space.

seriously though. last 3 races was the initially proposed, andit was shot down. this is an old statement by Bernie. he must have forgotten that he already proposed it!

Recall that this man was once pushing for "artificial rain" at unexpected intervals, just to make things interesting. Now "double points" for the final races. He'll transform Formula 1 racing from a sport into a circus act if he's allowed.
