British racing legend John Surtees has criticised the plan to award double points at the final race of the 2014 season, calling it a purely commercial gimmick.

Don't kid yourselves guys.
Whilst Surtees views are spot on, his opinion means nothing to those in charge.
The simple fact is those in 'authority' are only interested in developing the 'show' to make even more money. Whether this compromises what racing is all about matters not one jot to them.
Add to that egos the size of supertankers, and other peoples' views, even if they were great champions, count for absolutely nothing.
