They are all getting closer to the V8 pace, and that is very good news.... I guess engine is the biggest factor this season as Mercedes and Mclaren are closely matched. one with c*ck nose and the other without. I bet Mclaren will reconsider switching to a Honda next year.

one thing that is being overlooked is the fact that this is only testing, and the turbo boost can be turned up as there are no fuel consumption worries. it is far to early to say who has the pole position. yes, merc are ahead in the testing stakes, and lulu has said that they are trying to break the car, so it is fairly safe to say that their current pace will not be replicated in a race.

rob. I did not say they are glory runs, but you, as an engineer should know, that you always test a product beyond its specified limits to see how it copes.
merc are just doing that....ignoring fuel consumption limits, increasing turbo boost etc. that way they will know what they can do in a race, should the occasion demand it. in my mind that is a sensible thing to do.
