A factor to consider is Kimi's 2 seasons of WRC experience. From what I've read about the new power units, they are high torque, low rev engines similar in some ways to WRC engines with their anti-lag turbo systems and massive torque off the line, but moderate horsepower. I think this experience will be to his advantage in driving the 2014 car.

another thing to consider is Ferrari and Santander

I think Alonso is a great driver, but I think hes got too much of an advantage off the track and Ferrari are better at politics than designing a car.

I agree, politics are always going to be part of team Ferrari. I wonder though if Fernando will necessarily be favored if Kimi is quick early on. Ferrari management is sure to remember Fernando's negative comments from last year.......and Kimi is a past champion with them also. It will be interesting!

i think ferrari will be will be the ones trying to keep them in order as both haven't had wdc in 7/8 years alonso 2006 kimi 2007, they both definatly wont be a no2 driver and the car don't look too bad.

whoever comes out on top, ferrari will benefit from having two of the three most consistant racers of the past two years in the red cars. the team shouldnt need to worry about any friction between the pair, providing a consistantly quick car is what the team needs to focus on, the drivers will take care of the rest

Well, Coulthard you couldn't do it at the time when you and Kimi were team-mates. Ok, you did it in 2002 but most of McLaren's problems happened at Raikkonen's car(this happened in 2004 as well). But in 2003 Kimi was far ahead of David, some 10 podiums against the 3 podiums of Coulthard. David was a decent driver who matched and beated the great Hakkinen from time to time and it didn't happen in rare cases. But he didn't handle well Kimi. I remember Coulthard saying back in 2009(when Ferrari announced that Alonso would join the Scuderia and Kimi would be leaving them) that Alonso is the perfect driver for Ferrari and will help the team to return at the front. Kimi isn't good at developing a car, at least he wasn't at McLaren-said Coulthard. Now Kimi is back at Ferrari, so actually Ferrari does need his services.

The only inside track that DC has over us keyboard racers is being KR former team mate. other than that we are free and DC too to speculate on what will happen when KR & FA starts the 2014 season.

I was enjoying all the posts until I got to the last two. Knocking DC isn't really constructive and doesn't add anything to the topic. My Granny used to say "If you've got nothing worth saying, say nothing."
