McLaren racing director Eric Boullier says he is keeping a close eye on how Kevin Magnussen handles his rookie F1 season

That testing stat that Boullier quotes at the end of the article is pretty frightening. Whilst there are feeder series such as GP2, GP3 and WSBR, nothing is quite like a Formula 1 car and the comparative absence of pre season milage seems to be asking for trouble.

It's a credit to the current stock of rookies that they're doing as well as they are given their age and (lack of) experience in F1.

WTF kind of sense does it make to arrange it where these rookies don't know how to drive an F1 car in the name of "saving money" yet we can throw money down the drain hand over fist trying to make environmentally friendly engines (that are the most expensive development in the history of Formula One.)
