Caterham has confirmed that Alexander Rossi will drive for the team in FP1 for the Canadian and United States Grand Prix

Meh...he's good but not great judging by his GP2 and WSBR performances. He still could be a decent choice for Gene if Gene gets his team off the ground, but mostly cause the drivers won't be the limiting performance factors anyway. It's kinda like Chilton and Marussia, yes Chilton often runs around a second off of Bianchi's pace but when you're already the slowest team on the grid who cares...Just bring the money, bring the car home, don't do any damage and hope more than 10 guys retire including the Caterhams. That's pretty much their strategy with him.

Rossi is more than capable to fullfill the same role for Gene...If he can bring the money that is.

Very well observed. Of course Gene has to look for the best available drivers if/when Team Haas gets to the grid, but Rossi would be a clever choice. He's certainly a talented driver and has proven himself in both the Renault World Series and GP2 - and of course, he would definitely please the sponsors. No doubt Rossi's curiosity was aroused when the announcement was made that Haas was joining the F1 circus!
