I understand why he didn't want to bring another bunch of millions to drive around at the back for another year at Caterham, but sadly apparently a Sauber 3rd driver seat was the 'best' alternative. And then the car turns out to be an absolute dog at that...

Shame really, I thought he did well enough last year especially towards the end to have a shot at a half decent seat somehow (at Williams for instance with the McGregor connection) but seems like it's over now and he'll have the typical carreer for a Dutch guy in F1....sigh.

Hopefully some team out there will finally give Frijns a car he deserves instead of promoting guys with less stellar CVs just because they bring more coin (all the teams from the last 2/3s of the grid) or have been part of a particular development program (I'm looking at you, Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes via FI and Ferrari via Marussia).

I agree GvdG did enough to keep a seat. Not enough of them.

Here's a cornball solution that should be up Bernie's alley:

Have the mfg's on the F1 Strategy committee field a 3rd car and put in the top 5-6 from GP2 (last event or points) in the seats. Add them to the field or have top 2 out of 3 cars on those teams qualifying in.
