Once again an impressive drive from JB. Of course without the retirements and accident he wouldn't have finished 4th, but when you don't have the equipment a good driver is always there to pick up whatever they can. He beat both Alonso and Raikkonen, 2 drivers who are regularly touted as being much better than him.

DuhFerrari: Good one Button,
Really surprised me that Macs updates did help.
But was it actually due to their Merc engine, as all Mercedes powered car did well on this fast track.

Correction... some Merc powered cars did well.

Looks good on paper but basically down to a solid drive with an uncompetitive car and a deal of good luck. Mclaren are simply not in the same race as the top half of the grid and it must be pretty depressing tooling round way down the field for most of the race. Mclaren need a huge increase in aero performance if they are to move up the grid and I don't believe that will happen until they get the new aero people in. Peter Promodu I believe does'nt start until the end of this season so it will probably be in the latter stages of next season that we see some progress.

No words from the Sporting Director though. You'll remember him - he's the one who led Williams to their most disastrous period and got turfed out after the worst start to a season in 2011.McLaren snapped him up and have had the worst season for years in 2013 and are looking no better in 2014. He could do with a transfer to the same broom cupboard that Whitmarsh got consigned to.

Absolutely, I have no idea why they persist with Sam Michael.

Impressive indeed...

And he even says it himself, were it not for the failures ahead, they wouldn't have had that result, BUT, the GAP TO THE FRONT, at only 11 seconds is a great improvement.

COME ON MCLAREN!!!! TURN THIS DONKEY AROUND!
