it now appears that sainz was doing a solo run with caterham, or perhaps (more likely) caterham thought that approaching sainz with an offer, would get red bull on their side and with possibly financial benefits. it has been denied that there is any chance of sainz going to f1 at present, and he has been told to concentrate on 3.5.

Looks like it's a "done deal" then. Put Sainz in, write-off the gearbox invoices, get him groomed for TR. As was said, Ericsson brings money, so they can't dump him anytime soon, despite him not being brilliant..
Nightmare for Koby... hope he hasn't upset Ferrari so much as they won't take him back. Still, there's plenty of good other series always looking for ex-F1 drivers. I think that was probably his last chance in F1....

my first thoughts were the fact is he is a red bull protege, then he could hardly be in realistic contact with caterham. but, sorry commo, i cannot see marko trying to get a third tier level in their academy. if they are, it would seem as if red bull want to take over f1, which in my mind would be a catastrophe. sainz would be far better of concentrating on winning the 3.5 championship, and to see where he goes from there.

Helmut Marko not Sainz has been endeavouring to broker a deal whereby the Gear Box Deal provided by RBR will be forgotten providing Caterham enlist Sainz .

Kobayashi may not be setting the circuit on fire but he drives free of charge.

Doesn't seem fair.

What next for Kamui then? replace JB at Mclaren with Honda coming back next year? (unlikely) Replace Kimi at Ferrari with his Ferrari sport car connection? (very unlikely)
I would rather see him leave F1 as watching him driving a Caterham at the back of the field does hurt... :(
